About the Yoto Mini 4th Gen Portable Kids' Audio Player
The Yoto Mini 4th Gen is a small, portable, screen-free audio player for kids, released in fall 2026. Kids choose what to hear by slotting in a Yoto Card or by twisting and pressing the new Green Button, which scrolls through up to 20 favorite titles that a grown-up sets up in the Yoto App. There are separate day and night playlists, and Day and Night Modes can change the audio, volume limits and clock cues for bedtime and wake-up. A small display shows title artwork and works as a clock when nothing is playing. Yoto designs it for ages 3 and up; younger children can listen with a caregiver handling the player.
The 4th Gen Mini is IP67 water- and dust-resistant, and Yoto says it has been drop-tested 30,000 times. It has 64GB of storage for more than 1,000 hours of offline audio, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 6.1, a 3.5mm headphone jack and Bluetooth headphone support. Yoto rates battery life at up to 16 hours, and it charges over USB-C. It measures about 3 x 2.8 x 2 inches and weighs about 6.5 oz.
Setup needs the free Yoto App and Wi-Fi. Each Yoto Card's audio downloads the first time it is played and then plays offline; radio and podcasts need an internet connection to stream. Yoto Cards are sold separately, and the app includes free podcasts, radio, sleep sounds and a recording tool for making your own cards. Yoto says some interactive Yoto Card features are not yet available on 4th Gen players.
In the box: Yoto Mini 4th Gen, a USB-C to USB-C cable, and a Welcome/Make Your Own card with stickers, plus a free Journey Jams digital card in the app. A wall plug is not included. Yoto covers the player with a two-year warranty.
What reviewers say
No full independent review of the Yoto Mini 4th Gen was found yet; this summary is from one published hands-on. Busy Busy Learning used the Mini 4th Gen at Yoto's UK launch event and called the Green Button "a game changer" for travel and bedtime, since kids can reach favorites without carrying cards. The reviewer found the Mini smooth, tactile and tough (a demo unit kept playing while being knocked around), said its sound is better than the 2024 Mini and impressive for its size, and welcomed IP67 protection on a kids' device. Cautions: some interactive Yoto Card features are not yet supported on 4th Gen, the reviewer would still add an Adventure Jacket for grip and scratch protection, and families with a working older Yoto don't need to upgrade.
Pros
- Green Button gives quick, card-free access to favorites
- Smooth, tactile and tough in the hand
- Sound is strong for its size and better than the previous Mini
- IP67 water and dust resistance suits travel and outdoor use
Cons
- Some interactive Yoto Card features not yet supported at launch
- Reviewer would still add a separately sold Adventure Jacket for grip and scratch protection
