About the Anker Nebula Capsule 3 Laser Portable 1080p Projector
The Nebula Capsule 3 Laser is a soda-can-sized projector from Anker that uses a laser light source to put a 1080p picture on a wall or screen up to 120 inches across. It weighs about 2 lb (900 g) and stands 6.7 inches tall, so it is easy to carry from the living room to the bedroom, the backyard or a hotel room. A built-in 15,000 mAh battery means you don't always need an outlet nearby.
Setup is designed to be quick. Autofocus and automatic keystone correction square up and sharpen the image for you, and there is a built-in speaker plus an AUX output if you want to use your own speakers. Brightness is rated at 300 ANSI lumens, so it is most at home in a dim or dark room, and the laser light source is rated for 30,000 hours.
It works with Google Assistant voice control and Chromecast casting, and you can plug in a streaming stick, console or laptop over HDMI. It suits renters, travelers and anyone who wants big-screen movie nights without mounting a TV.
What reviewers say
Testers like how small and light the Capsule 3 Laser is and how quickly its automatic focus, keystone and screen-fit tools get a picture on the wall. The trade-offs are a dim, low-contrast image that looks washed out unless the room is dark, and battery life of about an hour at maximum brightness in testing, well short of Anker's rating. High input lag also makes it a poor match for fast-paced gaming.
Pros
- Very compact and light, easy to take anywhere
- Fast automatic setup with autofocus, keystone, obstacle avoidance and screen fit
- Quiet fan that stays out of the way during movies
- Built-in battery and speaker add flexibility
Cons
- Dim, low-contrast picture that needs a dark room
- Battery lasted roughly an hour at max brightness in testing
- High input lag, and no optical zoom or lens shift
