About the Baratza Encore Conical Burr Coffee Grinder, White
The Baratza Encore is a compact conical burr grinder for people who want to start grinding their coffee fresh at home. Its 40 mm conical burrs and 40 grind settings cover a range of roughly 250 to 1,200 microns, and you change the setting simply by turning the hopper. Baratza says that range runs from fine, espresso-style grinds to coarse French-press grinds, with pour-over and other manual brew methods in between.
It's easy to run. There's an on/off switch on the side, plus a pulse button on the front for grinding on demand. A slow-turning DC motor drives the burrs, which Baratza says keeps grinding cool and quiet, and an automatically resetting thermal cutoff protects the motor from overuse. The clear grounds bin holds about 120 g and has a fill line to help you judge how much to grind.
Baratza designed the Encore to fit under most kitchen cabinets. It weighs about 7 lb, and this version comes in a clean white finish that suits lighter kitchens.
